cancellation period for refund before event

Is it possible to set up some rules where my client can give different percentages of refunds depending on an individuals cancellation before an event.
e.g. a week before the event 50% refund.

I don’t think paypal has this facility. Any ideas?

Hi there,

If you’re using a service like PayPal to handle the payments, you can inquire with them about altering the standard refund policy.

Thanks for your reply on Monday straight away Josh. Since then I have been looking over Paypal, but nobody seems to have the answer, its all ebay related.

If a client cancels from the event(class), they will be refunded automatically, Right?
How do we have the admin intervention of stopping that automatic payment being refunded to the client, and then manually refunding them with a partial refund depending on our terms of when they decided to cancel? e.g. a week before event 50% refunded.

If a client cancels from the event(class), they will be refunded automatically, Right?

That is not the case. When they cancel from an event, there isn’t an automatic refund sent. The refund needs to be done via the PayPal account where the payment went to. In the PayPal account’s admin.

So the cancellation of an event by a client is completely manual by a request to the admin? except for the client who can cancel themselves from the event in their profile. The refund is then sent manually through paypal back to the client.

Are there any automation triggers that are available?

Hi there,

That’s correct. The refunds are issued manually from the PayPal account. Event Espresso doesn’t have a feature that triggers the refund from the PayPal account.
