I was looking through this forum to find this question and I was rather shocked that it doesn’t appear to be available in EE4. I saw a thread from march 2014 that said that people who want to use coupons should use EE3. Is this still true?

Hi Martijn, this is the current recommendation until the promotions add-on is ready. It affects pricing so we are testing heavily and fixing bugs as we find them.
We do have it along with the upcoming version of Event Espresso 4.8.x in our pre-release channel. If you have a testing site available, then we encourage you to try it out and share feedback:
