We would like to accept our customers’ credit card information when they register for an event. We don’t, however, want to charge the card until the customer shows up for the event. We have considered accepting a deposit to collect the credit card information but don’t want to be charged twice (1 for deposit, 1 for actual class cost). Can anyone recommend the best solution? Can you accept credit card information without charging it until later?

Sorry for the confusion. I meant to title this forum question: Can I accept credit card info for event registration but “NOT” charge immediately?

It’s a good question, and I’m afraid the answer is we do not have an automated payment gateway solution for this. We do not recommend accepting credit card info during the event registration process because capturing and storing CC info on your site is not secure. It’s actually a big no-no.

The best option I’m aware of would be to capture the registration info and set the Invoice payment option, and they’ll get an invoice when they register and they’ll know what they’ll be paying. Then when they show up for the event you can use a card reader solution like Square Up:
