I am using Event Espresso to handle event registrations for an international ministry that’s based in my home town. We have a training and ministry center in Managua, Nicaragua in Latin/Central America. Teams from churches all around the world fly into this training base for 7 days at a time to receive instruction, followed by hands-on experience putting into practice what they’ve just learned about. This training base in Nicaragua is in high demand, and it’s basically reserved for one week at a time by teams from around the world.
I need to know if it would be possible to use your plugin as follows, specifically for the training center venue:
Display a calendar specific to that venue which shows when it has already been booked and to show availability for teams who want to reserve it.
Allow visitors to reserve the training center through a front-end form.
Empower a website administrator and/or training base facilitator to approve the reservation and make it permanent.
Is it possible to use your plugin in this way? If so, exactly how would I go about configuring it to work this way? If not, is that a feature you would consider adding?
It should be possible, though may require some tweaking.
You will need:
Recurring Events Manager
Calendar
How I would go about it is as follows:
Start by making an event.
I would set the events to have a capacity of one, and use the questions to allow the registrant (team leader?) to add in details of the team members.
I would set the “Enable attendee pre-approval feature?” option in General Settings to yes and also make sure the event has the option “Attendee pre-approval required?” to yes.
Create a category specifically for these events, and attach it to the event.
In the event, set the Recurring Event Manager options, I would make the event one week long and create about 3-6 months worth, though you should be ok making a years worth (52).
Create a calendar page using the shortcode [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR event_category_id=”your_category_identifier”] using the category you created earlier.
The only difficulty I foresee is the changing of the events on the calendar to display sold out. Currently that isnt possible without hacking at the code. In the current pre-release version of the calendar, the pop up will show that it is sold out which is helpful, but the calendar colour won’t change so you may need some custom work there if that is important to you.
