Can EE do Class Registrations for Event? Scenario below

Our 3 day conference has several Paid registration levels – One price for members, one for non-members. I can import a list of member numbers to qualify for the discount or perhaps set up their member numbers as coupon codes. The price goes up the month before the conference. Once someone has paid for their registration (or multiple registrations if they are bringing more than one person), then they sign up for the classes they want. Each class has a maximum number of attendees. Classes are free to conference attendees, so the only cost is conference registration. Can EE handle my scenario and if so, can you point me to some information on how to do this? Thanks!
Dave

Hi Dave,

Once someone has paid for their registration (or multiple registrations if they are bringing more than one person), then they sign up for the classes they want. Each class has a maximum number of attendees. Classes are free to conference attendees, so the only cost is conference registration.

What is different about ‘registration’?

Would that be registration onto the event or registration onto your site (like a membership)?

EE does not currently support allowing users to register onto events because they registered onto another event (as in registering onto a conference event and then allowing them access to class events because they registered onto the conference)

You could combine the conference registration with the classes and set the ‘Conference’ ticket as a required ticket (all registrations must select a qty of at least once for required tickets) meaning the user selects the conference (paid) ticket and each individual class ticket (free) in one step.

Within the event it would look something like this – http://take.ms/wNhtM

The ‘Conference’ ticket is set to required – http://take.ms/8HF3L

(Also note the sales for that conference ticket only apply to the conference datetime, this is to allow you to set individual limits on each class and the conference overall, each ticket shown above is only attached to its individual datetime)

So then on the front end it would look like this – http://take.ms/9zh03

The user must select at least 1 conference ticket and then select which class tickets they want.

Would that work?

One place this gets tricky is with ‘member’ pricing. You can’t have multiple required tickets (one for members and non member) as the member would see both. If your using Promotion codes you can work around this as you then only use one ticket and provide your members with a discount code, however there is currently now ‘batch import’ for promotions.
