Hi,

We’ve got problem were our calender is not showing when using the IE7 and IE8 browsers and am unsure how long this has been broken. It works fine in everything else.

When you go to this page in IE8: http://www.clime.com.au/clime-group-events/ it automatically switches to Compatibility View and the calender fails to load.

You get the following message”
“Compatibility View
A problem displaying clime.com.au caused Internet Explorer to refresh the webpage using Compatibility View”

I’ve updated to the Event Espresso Plugin to (Version 3.1.30.7P) to see if that would fix it as I found a similar problem in another topic but this hasn’t fixed the issue.

I have the following add-ons:

<code>Event Espresso - Calendar V2.0.4
Event Espresso - MailChimp Integration V1.0.4
Event Espresso - Members Addon V1.9.6
Event Espresso - Multi Event Registration v1.0.4
Event Espresso - Permissions v1.5.3
Event Espresso - Recurring Events v1.1.7
Event Espresso - Social Media v1.1.4
Event Espresso - Ticketing v2.0.9
</code>

WordPress version is 3.5

One way to resolve it would be to force IE to not enter compatibility mode.

You can add code similar to this to your themes header

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" />

Of course if the user manually sets compatibility view there is little that can be done.

Thanks for your quick response. I’ve tried what you suggested and also tried IE=EmulateIE8, IE=Edge and IE=Edge,chrome=1 but it hasn’t resolved the issue.

I’ve also checked the calendar with IE6 as well and it’s not showing either.

Hi Robert,

There may be another WP plugin installed that is affecting this. You can try temporarily deactivating any plugins to further troubleshoot this. It could also be something in the theme, which can be ruled out by temporarily switching to the default WordPress theme.

The reason why I’m suggesting check for a plugin or theme conflict is because I checked on a test site where I have the twentythirteen theme installed and the calendar displays in IE8 in and out of compatibility mode.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your help on this. I think it must be something in the theme or plugin after all. It now seems to be an intermittent bug as it appears randomly. I switch plugins on and off but nothing is consistent. We’re going to turn the calendar off for now and look into it a bit more when time allows.

Thanks again.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the update. When you go to test this it may help to clear the cache in the browser between tests.
