Calendar Table Add-On in Sidebar Widget

I have added the Calendar table add-on as a widget in the sidebar. The widget works fine, but it looks oversized. Is there a way to size the add-on via parameters or an official way to get a widget on the sidebar that actually fits/scales correctly?

Hi,

The Calendar Table was not designed for widget use. If you have added it there, the best I can advise is to use CSS to try to restructure it to fit, as there are no parameters or official widget for it.

ok, what I am really looking for is a nice widget that lists upcoming events. The current one provided is very plain looking. I have just purchased the business license do you have anything which will work for me?

Hello,

We don’t have any premade styles but we can help you with some CSS to improve the styling.

Do you have a link to the page and what changes did you have in mind?

the site is http://muslimyouthtriangle.com/ you will see that I tried to place the calendar template table in the sidebar but it does not scale, I really like having the calendar month and day like calendar table, so anything similar to that would be awesome. Thanks!

The Calendar table addon was written to be added to a content area so it may appear out of place in a sidebar widget.

What styling changes are you wanting to do for the Upcoming Events widget:

Here is an example of some changes that can be done with CSS:

#events-widget-2 h3{font-weight:bold}
#events-widget-2 {border:3px solid #C22222; margin:10px;}
.widget-event-date {font-weight:bold;}

Thanks for your help but it is a little frustrating that I need to code CSS to get something so basic. There are quite a few free widgets that give a nice upcoming events display and I honestly believed it would come standard with my purchase. Would it be possible for you guys to make a much more appealing upcoming events widget? Honesty, what you guy have to offer is way to awesome to drop the ball on something like this.

Hi Ala,

The Upcoming Events Widget is specifically designed to be plain.

Due to the large number of themes available and the different styles of both design and code, it is quite hard to make something that looks beautiful and yet fits across a wide range of designs.

Keeping it simple allows an individual site admin to make the appropriate CSS changes for it to better fit in with their specific sites design.

ok thanks for your quick responses. I have edited the css of the calendar table and got it to look how I want it to. Now, I want to save this version specifically for the sidebar widget and I want to use the original version for the content area. How can I do that? I think I need to save the widget version as a new template, can you point me in the right direction to do so?

Hello,

There is one set of files that are used for the Calendar table addon. If you made the edit to those files directly, then that version would be used any where that the shortcode is called.

If the edits were made only using CSS, then it would be possible to setup some specific CSS so that it works as you described.

Could you clarify how the you made the edits?

actually was able to make a custom table “widget” out of the calendar table. Which looks really good (to me anyway) as a side bar widget. So now I can use both versions. Thank you for all your help and very quick response times!!!
