Good day!

Josh had suggested some code changes in the past and now with calendar throttling I think I’ve tried every combination to make MER work for our site.

Two concerns:

When MER is activated, the drop down navigation menu for our site stops working.  It appears but can’t be selected.

The calendar won’t load even with restrictive throttling.

I’d love to be able to use the MER feature.  How can it be made to work with a large number of events?

EE 3.1.32.2.P

MER 1.0.4

Thanks,

Bill

Hi,

1) Menu: Without seeing it in action it is hard to say, but having MER active should not affect the menu system, unless perhaps there is a jQuery conflict. I would need to see it to clarify.

2) ” How can it be made to work with a large number of events?” It does work with large numbers of events, can you clarify what the exact issue is please?

Thanks.

Hi Dean,

Josh had suggested there are more queries running when MER is enabled.

The big issue is the the calendar won’t load on the pages when MER is activated.

A new issue is that our site header navigation freaks out, possible as a side-effect of the query issue…

So, at the end of the day, I don’t know what the performance threshold is but the starting point would be

a)  can MER be optimized

b) what are the current server/db standards to support a site with a lot of events.  (currently 931 active)

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Have you checked to see if there are any JavaScript errors on the pages when Multi Event Registration is activated? Since the navigation menu dropdowns stop working, it’s sounding like there may be some a problem with running the older version of jQuery that’s being loaded from your theme (version 1.6.4)

Multi Event Registration requires at least version 1.8.3 which is the version of jQuery that is included with the current version of WordPress.

Please see this post for more info:

Hi Josh & Dean,

Thanks for your help.  The jquery reference in the theme was the issue and I have resolved this.

I’ll post a different question in a new thread.

As always, thanks for your expertise!

Bill
