Is Thesis de-registering the WordPress-bundled version of jQuery and instead using another version?
You can try either of these:
Switch to using the WordPress bundled version of jQuery, or swap out the espresso-calendar/scripts/fullcalendar.min.js file that’s in the calendar plugin with the same file from fullcalendar-1.5.4 version that can be downloaded from here:
Event Espresso uses the FullCalendar jQuery plugin to display the calendar. There’s a weekMode display parameter that lets you change the way it displays the weeks:
By default, it’s set to fixed, but can be changed to liquid or variable to make it not display the extra rows.
In the espresso-calendar plugin, this option is on line 509 of the current versions espresso-calendar.php file
