Is there a way I can get the Event Espresso calendar to open up the post related to the event, instead of the event itself?

The same thing kind of applies to the “upcoming events” widget, which also links to the event rather than the post.

Or maybe I am missing a trick and what I should be doing is somehow getting the theme template for the event to look like a post does?

Hi Rob,

No not easily, it would involve hacking some of the core code.

My question would be though, why do want them to? Isn’t it the aim to get the user to the registration page and sign up?

Maybe – I could well be on the wrong track here. But if so, what’s the point of creating Event posts? What is the use case in mind for that?

My general understanding of the posts is so that they can be intermingled into any blog, news or other post feed (inc RSS) the site has.

So if someone is reading the latest news on MyEvents.com but not specifically looking at the events section, the event posts will still be potentially shown to the them via the blog roll.

@rob and Dean you can link to the post, instead of the registration page. There is a setting in the Event Espresso > Calendar Settings > Page Settings page of the WP admin.

Maybe this needs to be added to the calendar documentation?
