WordPress 3.7.1 installed with new installation of Event Espresso version 3.1.35.2.P, Event Espresso Calendar version 2.0.6.3 I have an event that occurs for a six week time period, but only on Mondays. The calendar highlights the entire week. How do I highlight only the relevant day(s). I will be adding events on different days, and I need to be able to clarify specific days, not time periods. Thank you! Registration Page link: http://www.atlanticboxla.com/event-registration/ Calendar of Events Page link: http://www.atlanticboxla.com/calendar-of-events/ |
Hi, The way the event is set now is actually 1 event for 6 weeks. If you go to http://www.atlanticboxla.com/event-registration/?regevent_action=register&event_id=1 you’ll see Start Date: November 11, 2013 So basically that single events starts on Novemeber 11, and Ends on December 16 which is what is being displayed within the Calendar. It sounds like you want an event to be displayed every Monday for 6 weeks. So a user can register for a set block of events (paying once with one attendee list for that block? is that correct? |

Thank you… yes. I will have multiple events that will take place on a specific day of the week, but for multiple weeks. When I differentiate this by color, I want the user to be able to look at the calendar and see which specific day of the week and time their target event is scheduled. |
Then you actually need separate events for each day. Would an attendee register once, pay one fee, then attendee all 6 of those specific classes? (I’m just double checking as to not cause confusion later on) Do you have the Recurring Event Manager installed? If not I would recommend installing it, it does have it’s quirks but will make creating blocks of events much easier. Although this guide is for Event Espresso itself, the process is the same for the add-ons: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/updating-event-espresso/ When you have that installed I can go through some of the settings with you to help you create these events. |

Yes, I have Version 1.0.4 of Multi-Event Registration installed, and also Version 1.1.7.1 of Recurring Events installed. And, yes, an attendee would pay one fee, and in this example, attend a session on Monday, 11/11, Monday, 11/18, Monday, 11/25, Monday, 12/2, Monday, 12/9 and Monday, 12/16. |
I’ll create an event with the same dates on my local install and go through what I’m doing. To keep my event titles separate from yours I’m just using ‘Boxing REM demo’ So we want to create a block of 6 events. We start by going to Event Espresso -> Event Overview. Set registration_start date as today’s date (more on this later) Event start / end date both 2013-11-18. You can set the times that suit you, for the example it should not make a difference. So here’s my Date/time setup http://d.pr/i/n9rs Now we see the Recurring Events Manager. Set ‘Is this a recurring event?’ to Yes. Create dates automatically or select manually? = Automatic Now, we want all the event visible for the entire time this block is open for. So we’ll have registration_start stay as today’s date and set registration_end as the date of the final event. Monday, 12/16. Meaning all events will close an no longer be visible on the calendar as of that date. Registration start = 2013-09-18 Select ‘Yes (all created events are available for registration between the above registration dates).’ First Event Date = 2013-11-11 Repeats weekly Every 1 week on Monday. Again here is my setup currently http://d.pr/i/EnYL You’ll see the Projected recurrences of this event and they should match the dates you provided. http://d.pr/i/LUKM Now you’ll need to complete the rest of the form, prices, venues etc and also the event sidebar. attendee limit for example. Then click ‘Submit New Event’ Now what we have done so far is create 6 separate events in a series, they all have individual attendee lists etc. So now we’ll fix that. Find the first event Monday 11/11 and view the event, you’ll have something similar to this on the top page http://d.pr/i/q42x Click on the 11/11/2013 event and get its URL (the address for that event) In the sidebar you’ll find ‘Alternate Registration Page (optional)’ In the Red box next to there select ‘All events in this series’ to apply it too 6 of the events http://d.pr/i/LRPP then update the event again. What this does is force all the events to use Event 1’s registration page URL. Giving us 1 attendee list to manage. Hopefully that all make sense and is what you were looking for 🙂 |

Awesome explanation! The calendar blocks are set up properly now, thank you. One more question… on the registration page all of the registration forms are showing up still. Shouldn’t that have gone away with all forms pointing to the first registration? http://www.atlanticboxla.com/calendar-of-events/ |
|
So, as I’m looking around now on the registration page and links, I’m thinking this covered the issue with the blocks on the calendar, but now each day has its own registration page and looks like the cost is $295 per session vs the correct $295 for the entire 6 weeks of sessions. Unless there is a way to combine the events in one registration form showing up on the page, this may not work. |
What is actually happening when you click on the other events, is it is displaying event 1’s registration form. Although it looks exactly the same, if you click on any of those events and look at the URL (web address) they all go to /event-registration/?ee=3 which is event id 3. The setup above leaves registrations open through all the event dates created. Would you like it to close registrations on the first events? So all attendees must register before the start of the first event? |
