We have a convention and we bundle several sets of related events and sell them at a reduced price. Customers will buy other events that don’t receive the discount, too. We need to use MER as each customer buys tickets to multiple events (a general pass and at least one class). Most classes have an attendee limit. Back to Bundling. I have tried using multiple events added from a link, Coupons, Groupon, Volume Discount, and Price Modifier but non give me the combination I am looking for. Some will work but once our Community realizes they can apply codes and get the discount when they are not eligible all hell will break out. Any suggestions on implementing? I’m deep into the documentation and forums with no course of action. Am I missing an obvious solution or is this strictly a workaround process. I’d rather not do anything manual on my reporting end. And I’m reluctant to use event by invitation only.

FYI – I followed the recent thread on promo codes not showing with the Add Promocodes checkboxes like on the Test Drive. I have “Allow discounts in the shopping cart?” set to Yes. I can use the codes at checkout but not restrict them to certain sets of events.

Hi Michael,

Bundles are a little bit hard to do in EE 3.1.x (hopefully we will rectify this in 4.0).

In my opinion there are a few ways to do it, each having pros and cons:

1) Use volume discounts. You can set it so the discount only applies to events from a set category and for a set amount of events. For instance if you have 4 events about Computers, set them a specific computer category and the threshold to four, so they need to add all the events to get the discount.

Only flaw with this is that they could add event one four times and still get the discount.

2) Promo codes. With the latest version of Event Espresso, we now have global and specific promo codes. This is set to specific by default. You can create the events and have the promo code set just to those.

Flaw is that they can just add one event and apply the discount.

Unfortunately, the Volume Discount is Pre-Release and it is stable. I’ve been able to break it with multiple adding and deleting of events within the cart.

Thanks, though. Looks like we will need to do a manual process to update the attendee countdowns.

Hi Michael,

No problem, sorry I cant be further assistance currently.

If you have time, we would love to get your feedback on the issues with Volume Discounts. Having a log of any potential errors allows us to fix them and improve the plugin.

I reported the bugs before. They all seem to happen under similar circumstances.
