BuddyBoss and Event Expresso

We use BuddyBoss Theme / Plugin along with MemberPress for a membership community. Event Espresso is the only event plugin we have found to work with Memberpress for gated tickets. However, now Event Espresso is causing degradation to the features in BuddyBoss. Text boxes are missing, buttons will not work, and dropdown menus are gone.

The gated event ticket part is working great, but we need it to not interfere with the theme functions. Has anyone else had this problem?

Where you able to confirm if BuddyBoss and EE is conflict? There’s a case similar to this, and they thought EE and that theme has conflict, but when we did recheck it, it seems another plugin causing it.

Can we try a simple test, You can use https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ or any similar plugin.

You can do the above using Troubleshooting mode:

Tools -> Site Health -> Troubleshooting -> Enabled Troubleshooting mode.

That will disable all plugins and switch to a default theme and then allow you to enable specific plugins troubleshooting mode. Just let your Theme and EE to be activated and check if you really experience the problem you shared.

Once the health and trouble shoot plugin is disabled, your site will revert back to the current state.

thanks

Thank you! We contacted BuddyBoss Theme last week and they ran this test and said it was EE. When I disable EE, the problems go away, and when I reactive EE, the problems come back.

I will run this test again to confirm. Thanks!

It sounds like is couple of a CSS conflict.

Can you link me to a page this is happening on so I can take a look?

Sorry for the confusion, We’re asking about the page that has conflict. Please send us your site URL and the page where there’s conflict. If you can run us through loom video showing the problem, that would be great too. You can use loom to do it.

thanks.

Hi there,

I think there is more to this than just EE causing a conflict.

The reason I say that is if I refresh the page (or open in a new tab), sometimes I’m able to click on the buttons, others not.

For example: https://monosnap.com/file/1XsaWQeHmZXhog2HTP5fFRe5UHLDFB

Refresh the page again and no go, maybe again, no, next time, yes.

Something is going on with the load order here and I think that is what is breaking the functionality, EE may be adding an additional script which is then causing the symptom you see but I don’t think it is as clear-cut as EE just breaking the page as ‘sometimes’ it just works with no changes.

Any errors in your error log when loading the above page?

@rio, some disabled functionality is only available for “logged in” useres.

@Tony, I noticed the pattern that you mentioned about some times it works and others it does not.

Here is a screenshot of the errors, I am not very familiar with error logs, but it appears that some of the items that we are having trouble with are listed: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CRedlSclP7jrHyASzz5kQ27WcFBUa0Kv/view?usp=sharing

in your console, it seems the problem is the buddy press scripts and some other plugin. If you think there’s some function that is not working, you can bring this out to their support channel.

Thanks

Thank you, BuddyBoss/Buddy Press had said that it was trouble being caused by Event Espresso, but now that I know this I will go back to them to see if with this information they can resolve it.

Is there anything else we can do on the Event Espresso side to troubleshoot this problem?

not at the moment as those error coming from Buddypress. But we’re interested about buddypress recommendation and action.

You can also try to see if there’s possible conflict.

You can use https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ or any similar plugin.

You can do the above using Troubleshooting mode:

Tools -> Site Health -> Troubleshooting -> Enabled Troubleshooting mode.

That will disable all plugins and switch to a default theme and then allow you to enable specific plugins troubleshooting mode. Once disabled you will revert back to the current state.

thanks

Thanks for all the help on this. After going back to BuddyBoss again, they were able to find that the issues were coming from a page speed plugin called Async JavaScript, so it was a loading issue.

Thanks for the support with this,
