Hi

I would like to use Event Espresso so that a customer can book a date and then a time slot within that date

For example we have our visit Santa that is currently running and during the day we have slots every half an hour. Within each half hour slot he can see 5 children

I am looking now to implement this for next year but wondered if it is possible

We have a number of other Christmas events that run along the same theme of booking a slot

Is there a way to make an event a recurring event to do this? or is there an easy way to set this up?

If not do you offer bespoke work to help us create this.

Thank you very much

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

While a recurring event add-on hasn’t been built for Event Espresso 4 as of right now, there are plans to build one in 2017.

That said, if you were to set up some events for 1/2 hour slots, I can share some tips on how to do that. So for each calendar date, I can suggest setting up one event. Then set up one date time for that event, and a separate ticket for each time slot. Here’s a screenshot of what that will look like in the editor, which was a tour date with 1/2 time slots:

Please note the Qty field will need to be adjusted to match the capacity of each time slot.

Then, you make liberal use of the copy event button so that once you have one date’s worth of time slots set up, making several more events will be a matter of clicking a duplicate event button, then adjusting the date time.

One other thing that would be good to do is make it so robots don’t index these event pages since there is going to be mostly duplicated content on each page, which some say will negatively affect SEO. You can apply a filter function which will tell the search engine bots to not index. Here’s some sample code that you can add to a functions.php file:
