Hi we are having issues with regard to the pdf receipt. When the link is clicked it goes to a blank screen, this has only just started happening and nothing has changed on the server.

I have got the site on a staging platform and reverted to the default WP them and it still happens.

Any ideas on how to resolve this please?

Hi there,

The button that shows the blank page isn’t actually loading the PDF, it’s happening when just displaying the HTML view of the receipt/invoice to the browser.

So, let’s start by checking your receipt template is valid.

If you go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default Message Templates -> Receipt -> Edit Purchaser

Does that show content in the template, like this – https://monosnap.com/file/Sk1qOnxDsjDNrs1ERrRAM4VI8gfPxX

Have you altered the Receipt and Invoice templates at all? (Not just recently)

Hi there’s nothing like that showing. I have altered the receipt templates although I’m not sure if my associates have.

Shall I reset the template?

If there is nothing in the template, then yes, you’ll need to reset the template.

On the same page above, click the ‘Reset templates’ button.

Note that when you reset the template and customizations to a template will be lost, although from the sounds of the above they have already been lost.

Thats sorted it thank you.

I have User Roles and Capabilities to try and avoid others tinkering with settings, but it seems that messed with it somehow. It would be great to be able to switch the ability to mess with these things off for none admins

Thank you all the same for the great support though

Hmm, strange. I still get a blank receipt when testing.

Are you using the global template for your event are do you set custom templates?

How odd … no there’s no custom templates on the site at all.

Thats really bizzare. I’ve just tried again and it’s fine … https://www.pjchauffeurs.co.uk/?ee=msg_url_trigger&snd_msgr=html&gen_msgr=html&message_type=receipt&context=purchaser&token=1-0f6d0c4c01ac969321def7a90a62cf90&GRP_ID=1&id=2502

Hmm, strange.

A new registration shows the template, but my previous registration does not (which shouldn’t happen)

If you go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Message activity, can you see an Receipt or Invoice template listed there? (Those message types should not shwo in the queue at all, so it is expected that you can find it in the above).

Hi I have tested this now on 2 iphone emulators, 4 different browsers and an android device and it works fine.

the domain name was moved yesterday to a new DNS so I’m wondering if it hasn’t propagated across the web yet?

Yeah new registrations are working, but by first registration created with the broken template, is not.

This is the link for my original registration receipt:

https://www.pjchauffeurs.co.uk/?ee=msg_url_trigger&snd_msgr=html&gen_msgr=html&message_type=receipt&context=purchaser&token=1-af77a4bdcde922842268d6818337a52a&GRP_ID=1&id=2500

As you can see that doesn’t load, but as the template has now been fixed, it should.

Mind if I take a quick look in the admin? No problem if not I’m just curious as to why it’s not working.

If so you can send temp login details using this form:

Thank you for the log-in details.

I checked my receipt before logging in and then logged in and reopened the link via the admin. The confusing part here is is works fine and on refreshing my original (non-working) tab it now also works.

I can only assume this is from some form of server-side caching as a logged-in request would normally not be cached and therefore forced the original request to rebuild.

EE doesn’t cache the Invoice/Receipts so they are also pulled from the DB.
