Billing add-ons (extra charge options)

Greetings:

I’m well on my way to being sold on Espresso for a client. One question so far though:

Can I add options to the pricing options on an event? My client is running a yoga studio and wants clients to register for and pay for individual classes. She not only has different pricing levels – for instance, Adult, Senior, Child (and each of those also have a drop-in rate as well as no-charge reservations for passholders) – but she also charges as $1.50 surcharge for clients who do not bring their own mats and blocks.
As far as I can see in test drive, I’d have to create the following options:

1) Adult Drop-in ($15.00)
2) Adult Passholder ($0.00)
3) Senior Drop-in ($12.00)
4) Senior Passholder ($0.00)
5) Child – accompanying adult ($2.00)
6) Adult Drop-in + Mat and blocks ($16.50)
7) Adult Passholder + Mat and blocks ($1.50)
8) Senior Drop-in + Mat and blocks ($13.50)
9) Senior Passholder + Mat and blocks ($1.50)
10) Child – accompanying adult + Mat and blocks ($3.50)

Much better would be to only have the first five options, and be able to allow the client to add optional add-ons to her ticket, perhaps with radio buttons. I can’t see anything like this in test drive. Am I wishing for too much? Perhaps this can be achieved using a shopping cart?

Thanks!

Hedley

Hi Hedley,

We’re glad you’re considering EE. Currently what you’ve described is probably the best option. We have hopes to add an e-commerce module for simple items, but that will still be a ways off.

I guess with the Multiple Events Registration add-on you could create the mat and blocks as different events. Then you can link from the event registration page to the mat and block registration page where they can then add both to cart. That’s kind of cool because then if your instructor only has a a limited quantity of blocks and mats then he/she could manage all the quantities that they let other people use.

I second this question.
Can I have ‘a la carte’ type of items that customer can add to their order?
For example. The event ticket is $100. We offer a bottle of champagne for extra $20.
Not sure if Event Espresso has this kind of shopping cart function.

Not currently, Serge, but we’re trying to build the framework with Event Espresso 3.2 and eventually 4.0 so we can add that control.

You could just add two options Serge. (From my brief understanding of the current framework).

  • $100.00 Event Ticket
  • $120.00 Event Ticket + Bottle of Champagne

A simple ecommerce solution would be great in the future to upsell.

Yes, we hope to make a simple ecommerce solution eventually.

Garth,
Is there a price option on the new 3.2 alpha version ?

Hi Kara,

Not sure what you are asking precisely, but 3.2 is going to have a much more detailed and robust event pricing system
