Hi!

I’ve read a few treads and come to the conclusion that EE is still not able to handle bilingual websites… Our website has 2 user interfaces (one English, one French) and the translations are handled through a plugin.

As a work around, I was wondering if it is possible to create a new translation file for EE where I could set each text manually as a bilingual entry. As an example, where you would normaly see the texte “Quantity” for it to appear as “Quantité/Quantity”.

Is this something that could be done?

Thanks,
Catherine

Hi Catherine,

You could use a combination of gettext filters (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/#custom-function) and other filters to change other areas such as the button text that is used (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/customize-checkout-registration-button-text/).

If you will be translating the areas mentioned above along with other areas of Event Espresso, then working with the PO file may be easier.

You can get a copy of the PO file from GlotPress and then translate using a tool like POedit and then generate an MO file for your site:
