Best Option for Event Spanning Several Months

I’m trying to determine if Event Espresso can do what I need, and if so, which version is better and which add ons would be necessary. Our Event is more like a class, spanning a 6 month period. People can either register for 6 classes or 12 classes (not individually, just a block of 6 or 12). I’d like to be able to display the dates of the 6/12 classes, choose which block to register/pay for, have registrants be able to add those dates to their calendars, offer promo codes, and online payment via First Data. Seems these features may be mutually exclusive, so is there any type of work around?

Also, my theme causes this error message: wp_cron is disabled. Is that something a priority support ticket can help with?

Hi there,

The core version of Event Espresso handles most of your requirements

People can either register for 6 classes or 12 classes (not individually, just a block of 6 or 12). I’d like to be able to display the dates of the 6/12 classes

You can do this with multiple ‘datetimes’ and multiple ‘tickets’ within a single event. A single ticket can apply to multiple datetimes, so you could have 1 ticket for classes 1-6, another for classes 7-12 and a another for classes 1-12 if needed, it just depends on how you want registrations to work.

I’d like to be able to display the dates of the 6/12 classes, choose which block to register/pay for,

With the above, select a ‘classes 1-6 ticket’, register and pay 🙂

have registrants be able to add those dates to their calendars

Currently we don’t have an option to all of the datetimes within a registration to your calendar in a single click, but they can add individual datetimes to their calendar.

offer promo codes

You’ll need the EE4 Promotions and Discounts add-on:

https://eventespresso.com/product/eea-promotions/

and online payment via First Data.

We don’t support First Data directly, but we do support it through our Mijireh payment method. We integrate with Mijireh and Mijireh integrate with multiple different payment providers so you can use any they support:

Have you signed up to Test Drive Event Espresso 4? You can view how most of this will work there to see if it suits your needs although if you do have further questions please let us know.

Also, my theme causes this error message: wp_cron is disabled. Is that something a priority support ticket can help with?

That’s usually not your theme but your server config and means your host has disabled wp_cron.

It will effect some sections of EE as is, but wp_cron can usually be enabled although it depends on the host if they allow it. Which hosting provider are you using?

Tony,

Thanks for the info! So by purchasing a personal license I can do everything I want to do, except I may want to also get the Promotions & Discount Codes add on.

Is Mijireh included in the core version? Does Mijireh charge any fees to process payments (I understand First Data does, just making sure this additional step isn’t adding additional costs)?

Our host is GoDaddy. Do I need to contact them, then?

I’m pretty new to all of this, so I apologize if my questions are redundant, just trying to be very clear before I purchase that I’m getting what we need. Thanks!

I did some more research on Mijireh and see that they do charge a monthly/annual fee.

So, to get what I want as previously explained: I need to purchase EE4 Core, buy the Promo & Discount Code add on, and then pay to have an account through Mijireh. Correct? Anything I’m missing?

Yes, they should be able to re-enable wp_cron on your account.

If you are also using their ‘Managed WordPress’ hosting hosting package they have server side caching on all pages enabled by default, you will also need to request they disable that on your site.

I see you’ve answer part of this yourself but I’ll add some additional details.

Yes the Mijireh payment method for Event Espresso is included within the core version and Yes they do charge an annual fee. At the time of wiriting that fee is $49 per year for unlimited transactions. You can think of Mijireh as a mand in the middle, they integrate with multiple different payment providers and we integrate with them, so the fee is separate from your payment providers transactions fees.

The other option to using Mijireh is to integrate directly with First Data themselves, however for that you would need a custom payment method which we also offer as a service.

Yes that’s correct.
