batch emails not sending

good morning, I have tried twice today to send a batch email. While I can’t see where it verifies it was sent, it has not been delivered to my own inbox (I did add myself to the registration list.) It says there are 42 messages that have failed sending and can be retried…I retried once and it still didn’t go through. I rely on this new system to send out workshop messages and links and really need it to work. any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

So you can see the emails listed in Event Espresso -> Messages -> Message activity and they show as failed?

Do regular registration emails work? For example, if you create a test event with a free ticket and then register onto that ticket, do the emails arrive then?

Who hosts your emails currently?

If all of the emails (batch and ‘normal’ EE registration emails) are showing as failed then this is more likely to be an issue with the mail server than EE itself but we can check.

First, how is your site set up to send emails? For example, are you using a plugin to send them via SMTP to outlook?

EE itself doesn’t actually ‘send’ emails, what it does is build out the content and pass the email to wp_mail(), that function then does some additional checks and allows other plugins to hook into the process, then it passes them to whatever is setup on your server to send the emails.

If you are getting the above error from EE then it means wp_mail() tried to send the email and returned false (meaning unsuccessful).

Try adding this snippet of code to your site:

https://gist.github.com/Pebblo/bfd6aa3b88a2459668504f75a57bc324

You can add that to a custom functions plugin on your site, we have some documentation on creating one here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/create-site-specific-plugin-wordpress-site/

Then retrigger an email within EE and in the message activity table click on the icon, do you see any error messages there for that email?

(Note, you wont see any error messages in the above section unless the above snippet was active on the site when the message attempted to send)
