Is there a reason that barcode scanning either via the plugin or on the app requires you to select the date time first?

Running multiple events out of the same building means that if attendees arrive for different events at the same time this slows down the check in process.

You don’t need to select a datetime first if you use the app and hit the scan button. The reason there’s a UI to select a datetime first is because a ticket can be set up to give access to a specific datetime. So for example, someone may show up with a ticket that’s not valid for the datetime. Being able to select a datetime first allows the ability to verify whether the ticket is valid for that datetime.

When using the wordpress plugin where is the option to scan without selecting an event and date time?

You’d need to have only one datetime for the event for that to happen.

So there is no way to scan a ticket using the plugin without selecting an event and date time?

That’s correct because when you scan a ticket, the software verifies whether the ticket is good for access for that event and datetime. If the ticket is valid for access for the event it shows the green checkmark with the Checked In message.
