Banner, description, gallery, feedback etc not populating when duplicating event

I duplicated an event, however I had to copy/paste a lot of the information over manually, since those fields stayed empty in the duplicate event.

Info such as: Banner, quote, gallery, price, description, description 1, description 2, time, price and registration needed to be manually added to the duplicate event.

Is this a glitch? How can I duplicate the entire event as is with all infos populated the same as the original event?

Thank you for your help
Florian

Hi there,

Info such as: Banner, quote, gallery, price, description, description 1, description 2, time, price and registration needed to be manually added to the duplicate event.

None of those fields sound like default EE4 fields unless you are using a different term than what is shown on the editor.

Can you add a screenshot of the fields that did not duplicate, please?

Yes sure, here are the screenshots. These are the populated ones from the original event. In the duplicate these fields are empty…

and yes my bad, I might have been using different terms, as these fields show up in german in my editor and I translated them for you. They are also in german in the screenshots of course.

However they are the normal EE4 default fields that are to be populated when creating an event. Just the regular fields as you scroll down in the editor, where all the event info, the images, the pricing etc. is filled in.

Thanks for your fast reply

Did a developer help setup/customize EE to suit your needs when you first installed it?

With the exception of ‘Excerpt’ and possibly ‘Description’, none of those fields look like default EE fields.

This is how the Event Editor looks by default:

Title and description – https://monosnap.com/file/8Cc20vFxajwgpQPafvix5LRcsIdJpS
Event Tickets & Datetimes – https://monosnap.com/file/mmnT33Mgvt44UfziqQGwwn8fMu1QxU
Venue Details, Excerpt, Custom fields – https://monosnap.com/file/oRwmCrsCdbBipJBxYYGB82EZO79KzQ
Author, Waitlist (if enabled), Notifications – https://monosnap.com/file/YCSMBDqzZx0KtvY4vhNEGi9PD6LU4F

The screenshots you added look like mainly custom fields which EE will have no idea exist when duplicating the event, it is possible to hook in an add those additional fields to duplicate though even if they are custom fields.

can you guide me in the right direction on how to hook these custom fields to populate the duplicate?

and one more thing: you say the ‘Excerpt’ and possibly ‘Description’ fields are generic. If that’s the case they should be populating in the duplicate, shouldn’t they?

However those fields are also empty in the duplicate, what’s your take on that?

There’s an action run when an event is duplicated:

do_action('AHEE__Extend_Events_Admin_Page___duplicate_event__after', $new_event, $orig_event);

So you can use that hook to save any additional details you need to, but how you pull those details from the original event depends on how they were created, I’m guessing they are custom fields, likely using the ‘Advanced Custom Fields’ plugin as that’s a common method.

You’ll need to contact the developer who created those custom fields to set this up and correctly duplicate the fields over, I have no idea how your site is set up so can’t really give you an answer.

and one more thing: you say the ‘Excerpt’ and possibly ‘Description’ fields are generic. If that’s the case they should be populating in the duplicate, shouldn’t they?

What I said was Excerpt and Description may be default fields but all of the others don’t look anything like our fields. But…. if those values don’t copy over its likely they are not our default fields.
