Back-end Bulk Registration?

Josh mentioned back in January that EE was looking at adding the ability to perform bulk registrations on the admin side of WP.

https://eventespresso.com/topic/adding-bulk-registrations/

I had identified an interim solution for my niche need back then, but I once again have a need to perform this via EE. Is this still in the works?

Hi,

The Event Espresso Importer plugin was developed with this use case in mind. It’s currently being packaged up in preparation for release.

I can update this topic after it’s been released.

Update:

The Importer add-on is released. Since you have an Everything license, it’s ready for you to download from your account page.

I’ve loaded it up and tried it, but I’m getting an error on Step 4 – Map CSV columns. The column headers in my csv file are Last_Name, First_Name, Email. In Step 4, it says

For each CSV column on the left, choose what Event Espresso data it will get mapped to during the import.

The following Event Espresso data must be mapped to a column:

First Name
Email Address

Yet, when I select the drop-down list to select the column, my options are:

Payment
-Amount Payment should be for
Personal Information
-First Name – System Question
-Last Name – System Question
-Email Address – System Question
[Custom Question Group]

I select First Name – System Question in the first down-down list, and Email – System Question n the second, but upon clicking Next Step, I receive this error:

The Attendee First Name must be mapped to a CSV column

Thoughts?

Hi,

May I ask are the column headings, Last_Name, First_Name, Email, in that order?

If so, then the first drop down, you should select “Last Name – System Question”. Then on the second drop down, you’ll select “First Name – System Question”. Then for the third drop down you’ll select “Email Address – System Question”.

If you need further help with this, you could include a link to screenshot of what you’ve selected on step 4, and even a link to view the CSV file. You’ll set the reply to “Set as private reply” when including these in a reply.

The full column headers are:
Last_Name, First_Name, PeopleSoft #, Email address, Lunch. The 3rd column is like an employee # and optional. The Lunch column is related to a Custom Question.

On the Step 4 page, only two drop-down list menus appear. If I select Last_Name in the first menu, and First_Name in the second, I get an error saying “The Attendee Email must be mapped to a CSV column.”

If I select Last_Name instead of First_Name in the first menu, I get “The Attendee First Name must be mapped…” message.

It sounds like your CSV file has some issues that need fixing. If you have 5 column headers, then you would see 5 drop down list menus, not 2.

One possible issue that could be fixed in the CSV is if you have an optional field, is there a comma for every row that doesn’t have a value for that field? I can take a look at the CSV if you can add a link to an uploaded version somewhere. If you’re not sure where to upload the CSV to get a link, your site’s Media Library is one place to do that.

Yep – it was a csv file issue. I took someone else’s excel file and just saved it as a csv. But when I created a new file and copy-pasted the data, then saved as a csv, it worked just fine. I have a feeling there was formatting that was interfering in the original file.

Thanks Josh! This add-on is solving a a big issue for me, so I appreciate EE’s work on this.

Does this add in trigger emails and everything? Amazing! I will download right away.

Hi,

The add-on does not automatically trigger emails. You can learn more about how to use the importer here:
