Is there a possibility to auto-register the user to event if ticket price is zero and when user loggedin condition.

Hi there,

I’m not sure how that would work, may I ask exactly what you mean by ‘auto-register’?

Users need to select the event they want to register onto so how I’m not sure how auto registration would work.

Hello Tony,
We have a virtual event coming up, where all tickets are priced at $0
But we would like to raise funds and donations through this event. Currently, we are allowing the users to raise funds only if the users are registered for an event.
Ideally, we are planning to auto-register, and land them in the create a fundraising page, instead of forcing them to do a $0 registration and click on the “Create Fundraising Page” button again.

Hence wanted to know if there is a way to automatically Register logged in users for that particular event when they click on “Raise Funds” button so that they don’t have to go through $0 Registration process which definitely offers a better user experience

Thanks in advance and look forward to hearing from you

Ok, so no, there’s no ‘auto-register’ that will work for you here, the users need to submit a ticket selection and then be processed through the Single Page Checkout function to be added to the event.

However, if I understand this correctly you simply want to check that the current user (I assume a ‘logged in’ user) has registered onto any event previously to then show a button for them to view a ‘Raise Funds’ section/function/option/etc?

Is that correct or do you need them to register onto the event and then be taking to the page?

The reason I ask is you could add some custom code to the site to pull registrations linked to the current user, if even just 1 registration exists then show the button, otherwise don’t. But, I’m not really sure I understand our use case enough to know if that will work or not.

Hello Tony,
Thank you very much for your quick response.
We need them to register onto the event and then be taking to the Fundraising page. But we don’t want the user to go through the registration process instead, we want the user to get registered automatically and then be taken to the Fundraising page.
Wanted to know if there is any code or hook available in Event Espresso to achieve this functionality

Thanks again

I’m not aware of a hook for this, at least not without essentially building out all of the details that SPCO would do and then passing it to the functions that it does already, however, I’ve requested some feedback from one of our senior developers to confirm.

The closest I can think of right now (which isn’t really what you are requesting) is using the WP user integration add-on and auto-fill all of the details, so the user still needs to click to register and then on the attendee information form everything is prefilled and they click next.

Hello Tony,
Wanted to check if you received feedback from your senior developer.

Since we are planning to bypass the Event Registration in the frontend, WP user integration and auto-fill all of the details wouldn’t help us much

Kindly do let us know what your senior developer suggests us to do in this scenario
