Attendees showing as "completed" even when they bail out at Paypal

Hi all,

I’m having a weird thing happen when a registrant fills out the registration form, goes to Paypal to pay, but instead of completing the payment they bail by clicking the “cancel and return to seller’s website” link on PayPal. They show up as an attendee in Event Espresso with the payment column marked as “completed”.

Either this is an error, or I’m misunderstanding the default payment status setting in General Settings. I have it set to “completed”.

Are attendees supposed to show up in the attendee list even if they abandon the payment process? If they don’t actually pay, why would they show up there?

If I were to set default payment status to “pending”, for example, instead of “completed”, does this mean I’d have to go through and delete the “pending” attendees who never actually paid?

I don’t quite understand how this works.

If you have set the default payment status to “Completed” then all registrations — even incomplete ones where they do not pay or bail out of the registration process — will be marked as “Completed”.

Attendees will always appear in the attendee list, even incomplete registrations. I’d recommend taking a look at the About Payment Statuses section of this doc for clarification about the different statuses.
