Attendees receiving multiple registration messages

I got this message from someone who registered for our conference:
If it’s helpful, I thought I would let you know that I got four copies of this email message below sent to me from you, and there were two more copies of the “UCAP Conference Payment Details” message also sent to me. I’m hoping I didn’t get charged for this conference more than once, and it doesn’t look I was, according to PayPal.

What is happening and how can I fix it?

Hi Vauna,

Could you go to Event Espresso –> Transactions? Then look for the transaction for this recent registration and click through on it.

Does it show a status of completed (green)?

You should also see a payment entry about mid way down the page.

Yes, it is green/complete and there is a payment entry that says it is approved.

Hi Vauna,

If they and PayPal timed it just right, theoretically they can get the extra payment message if it sent out before they left PayPal.com where PayPal.com sent the IPN back to your site, and they arrived to your site at the right time where their transaction will get updated as “Paid” twice. This doesn’t mean that they paid twice, it means their transaction was updated twice. One way to avoid this is to use another payment method other than PayPal.
