Hello, I had a question about how the “contact list” is populated when someone registers for an event on EE4.
If I have never registered for a course then a brand new contact is created but if I have previously registered it seems as though the existing contact is matched and I wondered what criteria this used.

Hi Sam,

The criteria for using an existing contact is an exact match for the First Name, Last Name, and email address field.

So if there is an exact match for first name, last name and email then the existing “contact” is used and nothing new is created?

No new contact is created. A new registration record is created though.
