Attendee Transaction Successful but not Added to List

We had an embarrassing situation at the weekend, where an attendee turned up for a class that we were not aware they were registered for. They had a payment confirmation (gateway – eway rapid), which I checked had been processed. But their transaction was not added to the list and I cannot find any record of the booking on EE. They very same customer made a successful (separate) transaction/booking for another course earlier on the same day, so I can’t see what the issue would be.

Hi,

That’s quite odd. If they had not finalised their registration (paying would finalise it) then in theory they can hit the back button and register again, which will overwrite their first registration in the system.

We added a JavaScript pop up that warns people of this, but regardless, paying will close the session and therefore make the registration permanent.

Did you ask the customer if they had any issues with the registration? Was there any errors?

I have now spoken to the customer. No problems at all from her side when she made the booking.

Could they have signed up for a different course date by mistake? Since you have the transaction record from the payment gateway showing the date and time they signed up, maybe the easiest thing to do would be to peek in the attendees table directly in the database. Do you have access to phpMyAdmin?

HI Sidney,

I can get access, but not easily. I did do a fully search of the attendees list in EE (active and inactive) and could only see the one successful registration. I’m baffled.

Just come across a similar scenario today. Found an unpaid registration by someone who has clearly registered for two workshops (based on the total price) but I can only see one registration. This time though it was clearly a multiple booking.

The first scenario above was two separate registrations per the gateway.

The only time the attendee should get erased is the situation that Dean referred to earlier, where someone uses the back button or browser history to go back to the registration screen. But since Eway Rapid 3.0 is an on-site gateway, that shouldn’t apply, since when the user hits the Thank-You page where the payment is processed the session is closed out and going back will result in a new session id.
You might want to check the file uploads/espresso/logs/espresso_log.txt as it should have a transaction record corresponding to the transaction you see in Eway.
