Attendee stepped registration : register first, pay now or later

Hi,

I’m close to adopt Event Espresso because it nearly fulfills my client needs, however I still have a technical question about attendee registration management : my client wants people to be able to register first, then pay later with Paypal, or even pay by sending money. Is it possible to do such a “stepped” registration, with later ability to pay for the client, or for the administrator to validate an attendee manual payment directly into the cms ?

Thank you for your help, and congratulations for your great product !

Hi,

Yes it is possible. The premium version of the plugin has various gateways including offline gateways such as Cheque, Invoice and Bank Transfer, which can have there information modified to suit your needs. This combined with an active PayPal gateway will give the user the ability to choose.

You can also set it so they get their registration email before payment is complete and include a link to the payment overview page so that they can return and pay by PayPal if they so wish.

There is also an Admin Pre Approval system, but this may not be what you need as it simply stops the confirmation details going out for all attendees regardless of payment status.

The admin can of course “complete” a registration in the admin manually if the customer pays by cash for instance.

I hope that helps but if you have more questions or need clarification, please just ask.

Hi Dean,

Thanks for your answers. You plugin looks so cool that I already bought it ๐Ÿ˜‰

However, I’m still facing an issue related to your advice, that is why I keep on writing in the same post : when generating a confirmation email, how could people come back to a page where they have the paypal / other checkout options ?

The only link in the email, as you say, is a link to payment_overview… But payment overview does not provide any gateway for paying, that is just a summary of the record : name, price, pending payment, etc… The proper page to go would be the previous one, the one just before payment overview… with the form already filled with the user details… Is that possible to get this ?

Hi again…

The only place where the payment gateway are proposed to users is the template payment_page.php actually… not the payment_overview.php ===> is there a possibility to come back to payment_page.php with the registration_ID as parameter for example… ? Or as you wrote, coming back to the payment_overview BUT add the payment gateway into this template if the payment is still “pending”… ?

Hi,

You could also go to General Settings and turn on “Show payment options for “Pending Payments” on the Payment Overview page?” and the link tot he payment overview will then show the payment options.
