Attendee problems after upgrading

I have just upgraded to 3.1.28.2 and now when people are registering and they Confirm the registration the Comfirm page show up with no data and a blank record is created.
And I get this message when I enter the attendee list:
“Event Espresso attendee data needs to be updated. Please visit the Support page to configure update the attendee information.”

Is this a known issue?

Hopefully somebody can help.

jonhard

Hello Jonhard,

What version did you upgrade from?

Have you been to the Support page to update the attendee data?

This is a known issue yes, it’s not so much an issue as the plugin needing the attendee database updating.

Hi Dean,
We had the latest version prior to this. We are quite new to EE.
The deal is, when somebody registers and confirms the registration, instead of getting at thank you page, they get a blank page of the registration form. A bit strange, this worked before we upgraded.

I hope you can help, as we have an event in the week end and want people to sign up.

Regards
jonhard

Hi Jonhard,

Can you check to see if there are templates from the version you updated from in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates? If there are, can you try re-naming that directory to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templatesOLD ?

Hi Josh (Dean), sorry for my late response.
There were templates in the directory, I renamed it, but I still have the same problem.
It seems like I am not forwarded to the thank you page. I only get an empty confirmation page and if I press confirm it makes empty records. I now tried to make an event that is not free, but still the same problem.

I can see you have a new version, maybe that would help, but I am not allowed to do one click update even though I have at valid license.

“There is a new version of Event Espresso available. View What’s New with version 3.1.28.4.P. You need a valid Site License Key to enable automatic upgrades. Your current membership level does not allow automatic upgrades on more than one domain. Please log into your account to manage your Site License Keys or purchase a support license now.”

I hope you can help me.

Regards
jonhard

Hi Jonhard,

We can reset that key for you.

With the confirmation page issue, can you try wrapping the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode with the [raw] short tag? Some themes will replace the standard WordPress auto-formatting function with their own, which can break the registration process in 3.1.28.2.

So the main registration page will look like this in the editor:

[raw][ESPRESSO_EVENTS][/raw]

Update:

So I’ve reset the key, what you can do next is go to Event Espresso>General settings on your site and remove the key there are save. Then you can go to your account page and copy then paste the key from the account page into the key field in Event Espresso>General Settings, then save again.

Hi Josh, thanks for your quick response. The license issue is now solved. But the other problem is still around 🙂

Hi Jonhard,

Can you try testing this with the twentyeleven theme active? You can test this as an admin by using the theme test drive plugin, and the site will stay the same for everyone that’s logged out of the site.

Hi Josh, that “theme test drive plugin” is nice. I didn’t know of that. Thanks for the tip. I tried it, but same problem. I have taken 4 screendumps of the registration process. This could maybe lead to to something. Can I send these to you to examine. I tried to send them to support@eventespresso.com, with no luck.

Let’s try this then: Can you deactivate, then reactivate Event Espresso then test again?

I have tried this with no luck. What about removing it and installing it from scratch. Would that be an idea.

Hi Jonhard,

Removing the files? That wouldn’t do much if the files that are already there are the same as what is in the current version. The problem here is two-fold: 1) There are old template files in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates, so the first step is to remove the files from that directory. Do you notice how on the confirmation page, there isn’t any pricing? That’s the old templates. Once the old templates are out of the way, we can address the issue with attendee update script.

Hi Josh,
I still have problems with my registration. I have tried to delete the files in templates directory, but still the same problem.
Do you have any suggestions?

Btw can you recommend a programmer who can help us do some minor changes to the system. It is especially the output of the attendee list we want to make changes to.
Or maybe is this a payed service you do provide?

jonhard

Hi Jonhard,

It looks like the old templates are still loading. Can you try this? If you go to Event Espresso>Template settings, there will be a button that will automatically rename the template directory in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates.

If you accidentally deleted the templates in wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/templates, you can download a fresh copy of Event Espresso from your account page and reinstall.
