Attendance Certificates – is there a workaround ?

A post from 2017 suggested a plugin that worked only with EE3 and not EE4 that allowed for the invoicing area to be used for attendance certificates. Since then the latest log about 2 years ago says the only option is to export a CSV file and do a mail merge separately. Is there any change to this as the only option? OR is there some way to use an email from EE for this purpose ? Thanks for thinking outside the box !! Craig

Could you please provide more details about this post from 2017? I did not get the part of attendance certificates.

HI again, sorry for slow response. Typical I can’t find that thread. I recall it talked about using an automated email (already part of EE) to generate an attendance certificate. There is a thread for 2018 saying the feature was in the pipeline, but seemingly hasn’t made the light of day yet.

Many participants in various fields require certificates of attendance in relation to continuing edification requirements. Currently there is not specific feature for this. Other than generating a csv file and mail merging it elsewhere. It would be great if it could be handled within EE more or less automatically. The 2017 post as mentioned seemed to have found a work-around, or perhaps a 3rd party feature, but one that did not work with EE4.

Hi there,

We do get this feature requested from time to time, but it’s a relatively low number of requests compared to others so no work has taken place as of now due to other features taking priority.

We do have it on our roadmap here:

So far it has 22 votes which is relatively low when compared to say recurring events (which is what we are currently working on).

We would love to be able to provide all the features that our users request but it simply isn’t possible, so we have to prioritise our development time on features that will benefit the most users.

Possibly, yes, however, it will take some custom development to create it.

The messaging system can be used to add an additional message type (similar to how the ticketing add-on does it) and then some form of custom ‘trigger’ to send the certifications when needed.

However note that this is likely going to be a fairly complex feature to add.
