Assigning Payment

I had someone register for an event under his own name and then listed an additional registrant under his own name again. I found out how to go in and create a contact and changed the name (and a question that was required). Since the person had already paid, it now showed one person as paying $120 and the other person as owing $60. So I deleted the transaction thinking I could apply it to the whole registration, but now when you click on transactions, both registrations are linked and both show $120 owing (the tickets are $60/person). Howe do I straighten this out?
