Hi there,

May I ask, which iPhone are you using and which iOS version is it running?

The fact that you’ve tested this on various devices and using the latest iOS version is not obvious from your opening post as none of that info was included.

We’ve not had any other reports of issues and the iOS app is working fine with various test sites using an iPhone 11 and iPad Air 2 here, so I started looking for issues on your site.

You haven’t posted any links to your site here, so neither will I, but the site you have EE installed on redirects to another domain when viewing home and it looks like it’s that redirect that is causing the app to crash. When you input a URL into the app it sends a couple of requests to that URL to determine what the REST API endpoint for that site is (as it’s filterable) and to check it has a valid cert. With that redirect, it’s redirected to a Wix site which then sends completely unexpected data for those requests back to the app, which then crashes.

When testing this on Android it throws the following error:

“You cannot have WP API v1 and v2 active simultaneously. Please deactivate the WP API v1 plugin…”

Do you have the WP REST API v1 plugin active on the site?

The WordPress site.

The app can only function correctly when communicating with the WordPress site so any communication between the app and the Wix site will fail.

Hi there,

Just checking in on this as we’ve received an email stating it’s not working?

I did some checking into this and captured the requests sent from the app and the responses received from your site.

As mentioned above the app sends multiple requests to your site when with the domain entered but with the above redirect, it’s causing those to fail. The app has no idea what to do with the response received from the Wix site as it’s not WordPress and not expected which causes the iOS to simply crash and the Android app to show an error about the REST API.

Are you wanting to keep the domains private? I can post a couple of screenshots to highlight what is happening here if it will help but ultimately the redirect from the ‘tickets’ site back to the ‘home’ address needs to be removed or at least the requests from the apps excluded from the redirect (which would need to be done server-side).

this is stuff im going to have to pass along to someone that helps with our website.

doesnt really make sense to me since wix and wordporess are 2 totally separate.

wix has our website then wordpress has where our tickets are selling, so the redirect from wix to wordpress is causing the problem? but nothing with ticket sales is on wix besides a button the directs you to wordpress.

Correct and that’s exactly what the problem is, the domains are redirecting to each other so the app (which is expecting a WordPress) is being directed to the Wix site and has absolutely no idea what to do with the info it’s getting from it.

wix has our website then wordpress has where our tickets are selling, so the redirect from wix to wordpress is causing the problem? but nothing with ticket sales is on wix besides a button the directs you to wordpress.

You’ve got the issue backwards, the issue is the WordPress site is redirecting to the Wix site.

It’s easier to see if I post the domains so I’ll add another reply with links shortly.

Hi there,

Threads will automatically close after 2 weeks of inactivity, I’ve reopened the thread and merged your new reply into it.

So just to confirm, within the app are you using the login credentials for the ‘tickets’ site?

The credentials you need to use are the ones you log into your WordPress site with.

The app communicates directly with your own site (the site entered into the app) so the credentials used are for the site entered.

Just for future reference, the only place your EventEspresso.com credentials are used is here on EventEspresso.com, they will never be required for anything else when using the Event Espresso plugin (site, apps, etc).

okay so the original credentials do not work anymore.

ive been signing onto wordpress thru go daddy since those old credentials dont work.

do you know if there is a way to find out wordpress username and password in the back pages?

You can’t view your password but you can reset it (although I have no idea if they will prevent the GoDaddy login method you are using from working).

You may be better creating a new admin account to test this.

When logged into the WordPress site, go to Dashboard -> Users -> Add new.

Create a new user setting the Username, Email and password to whatever you prefer (make sure you use a strong password, this will be an admin account).

Then for ‘Role’ select Administrator’, then click the ‘Add New User’ button.

Now try logging into the app using those credentials you just set.

Is that straight after logging in or when you do something on the app?

We’ve only had that specific error reported a couple of times and the user reporting it state it was an issue with PHP on their server.

Can you send me temp login details so I can test the app and view the response?

If so you can use this form: https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/
