I just want to confirm. There is no way to present the option to opt into an email list when someone is in the process of registering for an event, for instance with a checkbox?

No, not currently.

You can set list on the event itself and all registrations would be signed up to that list, but there’s no opt-in method as requested.

How about a way to create a button to opt-in on the registration notification email?

We don’t have this option within EE.

If MailChimp creates a signup link you can add that to the email messages, but if that’s the case the link will likely be unique for each list so you would need a way to manage the templates with the values used so they sign up to the correct list.

Hi there,

I just wanted to let you know that’ve we started work on adding a feature that will allow you to use an ‘opt-in’ question to your registration form. The MailChimp add-on will have a new setting (which defaults to the current behaviour) which when enabled will add a new question type to Event Espresso -> Registration Form -> Questions.

When you add that to your question form registrations will only be subscribed when that question is checked.

The feature is currently under review and will likely need a couple of changes before we release it but thought you would like to know.
