I am so ready to dump MailChimp. It is so costly and does such a poor job that I want an alternative. Can you recommend any alternatives that will integrate OK with EE4?

Hi there,
Although its possible to do, Event Espresso does not integrate with any other service in the same way it does with MailChimp so using another service would require a new add-on specifically for that service.
So although there are alternatives available non of them will currently work with EE without custom development.

Tony,
Can you give me a rough idea of what types of code would need to be developed? I have been a programmer for a very long time and have written many WP plugins. I simply need to know what kinds of integration is needed to pull it off.

Hi Bob,
If you can open up the EE4 MailChimp plugin in an IDE and review how it was coded, you’ll see what’s involved with making an email marketing service hook into Event Espresso. The other end of the development will involve learning the email marketing service’s API. Here are a few examples of email marketing services that have an API:
