Hi – i cant seem to reply to our old thread, so I’m replying to it here in a new message. Thread posted below, but to confirm:

It does still happen detailing the same error message. Ticket selector is set to ‘yes’ as it was before. Espresso help desk can try this link https://stage.learningandwork.org.uk/events/test-free-externallink/

HI there – we have set up this event https://learningandwork.org.uk/events/getting-britain-back-to-work-tackling-unemployment-after-coronavirus/ which is a free webinar. We have added a link to the registration form in the ‘Alternative registration page’ box but when we click ‘register’ it is saying the error message ‘You must select at least one ticket in order to register’. I cant work out how to add in a ticket selector – it only shows if I take out the URL in the alternative registration page area. Can you help?

Hi there,

When you add an alternative registration page to your event, you’re effectively telling Event Espresso not to manage ticket sales for that event as whatever URL you set in that field will be doing so, meaning no ticket selector will show as that is an EE specific feature.

Looking over your event I can’t see the ticket selector at all, have you now remove it from the event?

HI there –

ive checked the box to remove the ticket selector – but then it doesn’t show the register button for my alternative registration page URL. If I turn on the ticket selector, then I get the register button, but when I click it I get the error message saying I’ve not selected any tickets (but I cant see a dropdown to select from).

Im confused!

You need the ticket selector to display if you want to use the alt registration URL field, so ‘Display Ticket Selector’ needs to be set to Yes.

A ‘normal’ ticket selector looked similar to the image shown here: https://eventespresso.com/features/ticket-selector/

When you set and alt registration URL it will display just a button that directs you to the page you set in that field.

The reason we do that is so that you don’t need to manually add a button on the page if you set an alt registration URL (which it looks like you have done currently).

There should NOT be an error stating you need to select a ticket qty when using that feature, but I can’t reproduce that on my sites and I can’t view it on your site currently to see what is going on.

Can you set the ticket selector to display so I can take a look at the page?

Hi there,

I can now view your event and see the ticket selector and error message in question.

The problem is from your custom JavaScript in your theme:

/wp-content/themes/learningandwork/build/js/events.js?ver=1596654979

This: https://monosnap.com/file/DLPQQlGLDQcG8gFHuFPJX65neLNCXW

That code is explicitly checking for a ticket selection and then preventing the submission so it needs to be fixed to account for event set ups where there are no ticket selections (such as events with external URLs).
