I’m creating a site for a music festival type event. My plan is to create a custom theme for most of the functionality, and use plugins when it makes sense.
My client wants users to be able to create their own itineraries and save them. He wants users to see a list of all acts, choose the acts they want to view, and save those acts to a sort of personal schedule page.
The music festival is free, so people don’t have to actually register or buy tickets or anything. We just want our visitors to be able to easily make their own itineraries.
My first thought about it is, that’s pretty much e-commerce minus the part where they pay. So I thought I’d start experimenting with WooCommerce/Tri.be Events or Eventbrite/Tri.be Events to see if that would work.
However, I’d be interested in knowing if Event Espresso might be a great plugin for our needs.
I don’t think Event Espresso is the right fit for your needs, in fact I’m doubtful any event registration plugin would be (although I’ve been wrong before!), because most of them require someone to register for an event.
It sounds like you might need something list based or possibly custom built that will allow registered and logged in site users to save the data to their profile or something.
I think it would be worthwhile you downloading a copy of the free version of Event Espresso and taking a look at how the basics are structured and if it seems suitable then you can look at the premium version – https://eventespresso.com/event-espresso-lite-preview/
