After registration for event EE is not sending confirmation email

User click on Register Now and type all required attendee information and then see the message Thank You, Congratulations (Your registration has been successfully processed. Check your email for your registration confirmation) but no email is sent for some reason?

Hi there,

That URL is to a checkout session linked to your specific session so I can’t view anything on it, it just shows ‘Nothing in your event queue’ (which is expected).

Can you link me to the test event itself, please?

Also, if you go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Message Acitity

Can you see the emails listed there that should have been received?

If so, what colour ‘status bar’ do they have? (the coloured bar to the left of each message)

This is URL for event on Nov 3 and Nov 4
This is the same event over two days

After successful registration user suppose to get an email confirmation
Instead the message is waiting in EE Management, Messages
It shows grey color on the left, No recipient in To field
I have to click under Actions on “Generate the message now” so it will change color to blue and it shows my email in To field but still no email sent
Only after I click under Actions on >> Send Immediately the the color is green and the email is sent
Please let me know how to change the setting so it will send email right away without manually clicking on Generate the message now and then on Send Immediately.
If you are able to call it would be most efficient

You should not need to click through to process the emails, having to do so means there is in an issue with WP_CRON on your site, or it’s been disabled and your host runs a real cron but not often enough.

EE does have an option to send email immediately in:

Event Espresso -> Messages -> Settings.

Set the ‘Generate and send all messages’ option to ‘on the same request’ and save.

Any messages trigger after that will send straight away and now use the message queue system.

However, I highly recommend you troubleshooting WP_CRON on your site to see if there are any issues with it as other functions on your site rely on it.

Go to Tools -> Site Health.

Wait around 30 seconds for the tests to complete, does it show any issues with ‘loopback requests’ or ‘schedules events’?

Thanks for your comments.
Yes, the WP_CRON was disabled back in January, possibly by our host provider LiquidWeb, and after re-enabling it emails working fine now and sent automatically.
I do not see under Dashboard Tools “Site Health” what you suggested.
Is it maybe part of add-on Automated Upcoming Event Notifications add-on

Hi Chris,

It’s not from Event Espresso but included in WordPress core, however, it was added in WP version 5.4 onwards, which your site isn’t running.

May I ask why you aren’t updating EE or WordPress to later versions? It’s up to if you want to do so or not I’m just curious.

We still using WP 4.8 because of the compatibility issues with custom built WP applications that would not necessary work if we upgrade to 5.7.2
I will check with developer if it would be safe to upgrade.
EE version is 4.9.39
The note says there is a newer version 4.10.11
EE Calendar version is 3.2.9
The note says there is a newer version 3.2.15
Please let me know if we should upgrade EE and EE Calendar and URL how to do it.
I hope it would not brake our EE as we are running a critical project for July and August now.

We don’t provide phone support, including through the use of support tokens.

Support tokens are used as a means to provide additional support we wouldn’t cover under ‘normal’ support, for example hunting down a conflict from another plugin or issue specifically on your site that is not being caused by Event Espresso itself.

To answer your questions regarding updates, if this is a critical time for registrations then I suggest you might want to hold off on updating until that has passed. It’s impossible for me to say if anything will break on your site when you update as it depends on what plugins you have install, the theme in use, your custom code etc.
