Our client moved the site to a new GoDaddy account and although we’ve updated EE, and we’ve used update URLs to update the URL, the Register now button built into EE still remembers that GoDaddy temporary domain. We have upgraded EE, and updated the database afterward, but it still will not release. How do we override this? Everything else on the site resolves correctly except the shortcode Register Now URL.

Also the event shortcode displays like this:

Registration is at an external URL for this event. with the register now button to the right.

Hi Ann,

Sorry for the issue you are facing.

That might be due to some site cache which is causing the issue. Can you please check if there are any?

If you are still facing issues can you please try the below plugin to update URLs to see if that fixes the issue for you:

Hi there,

Can you link me to an event?

The events are generated on the fly using your site_url()…
BUT… when you see the message you posted above:

Registration is at an external URL for this event. with the register now button to the right.

It means someone set an external URL within the event settings, here:

https://monosnap.com/file/amT4qdVm5W2O9KsDFfZLuXvnfRm9yT

That used to have event ‘placeholder’ on Site A that link back to a totally different site. For example if you post an event on the site to advertise a sister company but want them to manage the registrations, you add the URL there an all links from the EE event direct to it.

Is that something you need here? Most people don’t.

Also if the site has been migrated and that value is still using the OLD URL, that tells me the migration has NOT been done correctly on all of the database tables (otherwise that URL would have been changed).

That was perfect! Someone indeed had done the “custom page” (the client was transferring control of it to a new person at the organization and she placed that URL there!)

It’s fixed now – I removed it altogether, the form shows up on our page now and doesn’t require extra clicks or throws off an error.

Thank you!
