Hey there,

I setup event espresso on a client’s website last week. Before we went live, I made sure the client’s email address was given as the primary email in the event espresso dashboard. Today, however, I received an email when someone registered for the event. I double checked all my settings in WordPress, and my email address is not given ANYWHERE, including the main wordpress admin contact (same email as my client to whom this registration email should have been sent). Can you please tell me why/how I received this email, and how to make sure I do not anymore, and that my client does?

Thank you.

Hi Troy,

By default Event Espresso sends the admin emails to the Event Author’s Email address, this is the email address of the user account that created the event.

You can change this within the messages system.

Go to Event Espresso -> Messages.

You’ll see a list of message types, any message type that has the Event Admin ‘Context‘ active will be sent to the Event Author.

If you click on one of those templates you’ll see something like this – http://take.ms/bdmtz

Notice the TO field has [EVENT_AUTHOR_FORMATTED_EMAIL].

Change that to [CO_EMAIL] and that email will be sent to the Primary Contact Email.

You’ll need to do that for each template that has the event admin context active.

Is there no way to simply change the event author’s email address?

I think I might have figured out what I was looking for. My email address was still given for the WordPress user, “admin”, who was given credit for creating the event. I changed the admin user’s email address, so I assume that will take care of itself now?

Hi Troy, you could update the message template TO field to the CO_EMAIL shortcode.

That will send all event admin notifications to the email address that is set in the your organization page.

Another option is to change the author for each event via the event editor.

You may need to click on screen options and then place a checkmark in the author option. Be sure to update the event by saving if you make changes via the event editor.

Thanks

Lorenzo
