Address1 and Post Code missing from Registration Notification emails

I had to make several new registration form questions: Address1, Post Code, Gift Aid and Terms and Conditions. All are required. I deactivated the default Address and Zip/Postal Code system questions in the Question Group #2. In the Registration Approved template for Event Admin I added the following shortcodes to the [EVENT_LIST] section …

Registrant Details:
Name: [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_FNAME] [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_LNAME]
Email: [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_EMAIL]
Address1: [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ADDRESS]
Address2: [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ADDRESS2]
City/Town: [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_CITY]
Post Code: [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ZIP_PC]
Country: [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_COUNTRY]
Gift Aid: [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*Gift Aid: (Long question here)]

Everything is displaying properly on the form and in the notification email apart from Address1 and Post Code, which are just blank. I’m wondering if I should create new specific shortcodes?

Any ideas what I’m doing wrong please?

Hi there,

Can I ask why you needed to create custom questions for those fields when they have system questions?

The reason it’s not working is the [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ADDRESS] and [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ZIP_PC] are tied to the system questions for those values, if you really want to use custom questions for those you’ll need to use the [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*] shortcodes for those custom questions.

Thanks Tony,

The Address and Zip/Post Code system questions are not required and cannot be edited, so I had to duplicate them in order to set them as required. I’ll try your solution and let you know how I get on tomorrow.

What makes you think they can’t be edited? The system questions can be edited and set to to required.

Go to Event Espresso -> Registration Form -> Questions

Click to edit the question name to edit and set the field to required –
http://take.ms/MOEDl

The padlock icon just indicates that you can’t remove the question, it’s a lock on the checkbox, not the question itself.

Adding your own custom question for those values means that any section within EE that is expecting a value in those fields will no longer work as expected (like the above shortcodes)

Well that is weird, I tried several times to edit and save both of those system questions and each time they reverted to Optional. Now it works!

Thanks for help … problem solved.

Ahh, that could have been due a bug in a previous version.

We pushed some fixes in 4.9.51 to prevent that from happening, I can see your site is now running .52 so will now have those fixes.

Phew! I thought either I was losing it or that something was broken with my site.

Thanks again for your help.
