I read past posts about a feature coming that would add a PayPal surcharge specific to selecting PayPal and not other forms of payment. Is that possible?

Hi Erin,

No, not currently.

One of the reasons we haven’t added this is due to the fact that adding a surcharge to PayPal and not other payment methods is against PayPals terms and conditions.

Also if your customers are based in Europe the PSD2 regulation effectively bans adding surcharges:

Yes I just read you can’t add surcharges, but you can add a handling fee as long as it doesnt go over their surcharge. We do not have customers in Europe but definitely understand the consideration from a platform perspective.

Just to note, from my understanding it’s a handling fee that covers all of your payment methods, not just PayPal. In short you cant try to dissuade people from using PayPal and that includes passing PayPal’s fees onto the customer if you also don’t do the same for other payment methods.

Note I’m not trying to be the surcharge police here, just giving you the info I have 🙂
