I am looking for a way to release places in stages.

Would it work to put a limit of 100 attendees for an event, but later edit it to have an extra 100 places available?

I don’t want to use a waiting list. I am happy to edit it, so I am not looking for it to do this automatically, I just want to know if it will cause any problems.

Also – on a full event it shows:
We are sorry but this event has reached the maximum number of attendees!
Please check back in the event someone cancels.
Current Number of Attendees: 510

Can I remove the number of attendees line? Via CSS I presume?

Hi Matt,

That will work:

Initial attendee limit @ 100
Second round attendee limit @ 200
Third round attendee limit @ 300

…and so forth.

You might already be aware but one way that the wait list will be helpful is that it will collect information about those potential registrants/attendees for you. Then after you raise the attendee limit for the original event, you could send out a mass email to those on the wait list via Event Espresso 3.

See this tutorial for information on how to edit the messaging that shows the attendee count:

Thanks Lorenzo, the CSS worked fine.

I am using waiting lists elsewhere and will also be using them for this event, but for a different purpose.

For this event, I am just looking to open the entries in stages, with a price discount initially. It should be relatively easy to do.
