Hi there,

I run a summer music school where parents initially pay their entrance fee. When everybody has registered we (the organisation) assign them into classes. is this possible with event espresso? If so can I try this feature with the free plugin before I buy?

Many thanks – Simon

Hi there Simon,

Thanks for reaching out about your project.

If an event is paid as in there is a registration fee, then that fee would be collected during registration. If a registrant starts their registration and does not pay, then the registration would be incomplete and they would not count against the attendee limit that may be setup for the event.

Thanks Lorenzo. When someone registers can they choose options like different classes or talks?

Hi Simon,

If so can I try this feature with the free plugin before I buy?

Have you signed up to Test Drive Event Espresso 4? You can test out the full plugin there 🙂

However…

When everybody has registered we (the organisation) assign them into classes. is this possible with event espresso?

I don’t think EE will work how you are expecting. Its possible to do but I think a little different from how you are thinking.

You want users to ‘register’ onto the site and then you assign them to specific events? How are you looking to assign that specific user to the event?

To me your setup sounds little similar to a membership site (I understand your not really a membership site, but the setup seems similar).

The registration fee could grant the user access to be a ‘member’ of the site and the events can be setup to only allow logged in users (‘members) to register.

However again the user would need to select the events that are attending.

Do you have additional costs per class/event?

You can add registrations to the events via the admin, but to link it to a specific user you would need to be logged into their account and then register onto the event.

The other way you can handle this (which is what Lorenzo is referring to) is to add a ‘registration’ ticket that has the registration fee set. You can then mark this ticket as required so ALL registrations must select this ticket with their other selections.

You can then create individual tickets for each of your individual classes and the user selects a ticket for each class they are attending and continues the registration.

Basically EE does not allow you to set specific users onto events without logging into their account and registering onto the event as if you were them.

If you can provide more in-depth details on how you want this to work we can advise how close EE can get to that scenario.

Thanks Tony. This sounds an interesting way forward.

So there is different kinds of tickets? A registration ticket and tickets for classes etc? I’ll have a look at test drive event.

Hello,

Event Espresso 4 supports creating multiple ticket options and then those will be available for registration by a registrant/attendee.

If you use the required ticket option, then that specific ticket option will automatically be selected when a registration begins and any other ticket options would be optional.
