I’m building a new website for a client. She has a been giving her classes over the past couple of years and has a number of students stored in her current custom-coded event-management system. I have the database with all those students in a spreadsheet. There are not too many to enter manually, so that is not my question. My question is how do I create a user who gets associated with having completed prior courses. This is being done with an eye towards offering discounts to students who take other classes later. I really appreciate your suggestions.
When you add the user you can set the user role to have a custom capability such as completed_prior_courses (or any other unique name). You can use a plugin like the Members plugin or the User Role Editor plugin to add/manage custom capabilities.
Then, that user can have access to special ticket prices set to require that custom capability. The EE4 WP User Integration add-on has a feature that allows for tickets to require a custom capability. It adds an option to the ticket editor labeled “Ticket Capability Requirement”.
