Add a Registration Form answer to the ticket

Hi Espresso Gurus.
I have an event running at the moment at http://www.waciderfestival.com.au/buy-tickets.
One of the options is to purchase a Bus transport ticket for a ride to and from the event. The bus has several choices of pick up points. The chosen choice is selected as part of the registration process.
My question is: How do I get the answer to this question to appear on the ticket when it is printed out? This way the ticket can also be used to show the driver of the bus.

I appreciate any assistance.
Regards
Deb

Hi Deb,

There is a shortcode available that can show that information on the ticket.

Login to your WordPress dashboard (WP-admin) and then go to Event Espresso –> Messages and click on Default Message Templates.

Look for the Ticket message type and click on Purchaser.

The shortcode that can be used to show a custom answer is:

[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*]

It needs an exact match for the question name. For example, if your question name is:

Bus pickup points

…then the shortcode will be:

[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*Bus pickup points]

Here is an example of the shortcode above added to the ticket template:

Hi Lorenzo
Thanks for you assistance.
I added the shortcode as per your instructions. I have an image of where I obtained the question from:
http://s1152.photobucket.com/user/Deblamp/media/Ticket%20Transport%20Question_zpshs4p7grs.png.html
I have an image where I added the code:
http://s1152.photobucket.com/user/Deblamp/media/Ticket%20template%20shortcode%20added_zpsmvmo2l3j.png.html

I first tried the question: “Choose Bus Location” .. but this didn’t work, then
I added ” Bus Location Information” which is the header …. and that didn’t work.
Not sure what I did wrong … any assistance is again much appreciated.

You can try the text editor when you edit the message template instead of the visual editor. The correct short code for that question is:

[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*Choose Bus Location]

The question text must match exactly what is entered for that question, I ran a test registration on one of your events and the text shows:

Choose Bus Location : Required Only if Purchasing a Bus Ticket

The source code for the page shows a space at the end of the question text – http://take.ms/amvhT

You will need to also include that within the shortcode for this to work, so with the above question, your shortcode would be:

[PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*Choose Bus Location : Required Only if Purchasing a Bus Ticket ]

However, you ask that same question for all of your registrants which means that can all select a different location. That means you don’t want the PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER as it will only show the location select by the primary registrant on all of the registrations.

Try: [RECIPIENT_ANSWER_*Choose Bus Location : Required Only if Purchasing a Bus Ticket ]

Thanks Tony … I appreciate your assistance.
I have added the code you suggested:

I created a test ticket and it still doesn’t appear

I appreciate any other suggestions ??

Hi Deb,

Please take another look at my example.

The screenshot you have shared does NOT have a space at the end of the shortcode – http://take.ms/MexfP

As far as I can tell your question text has a space on the end, you need to include that within the shortcode.

Thanks Tony,
I have copied and pasted the question … I have added a space and removed a space at the end …. but I have still been unsuccessful in getting it to show …
I appreciate your help.

Can you send me temporary login details so I can take a look please?

You can use this form:

Please include details of which ticket template you are using in the above form so I know where to look.

The issue was with the space at the end question text.

Adding the space within the shortcode if you have a space at the end of the question text should pull in the answer, however currently it does not.

I removed the space from your question text and from the shortcode within the ticket and the answer is now shown on the ticket.

I’ve also created a ticket for us to investigate this further.
