Before upgrading from 4.5 everything was working fine, all tickets and payments were processing correctly, since upgrading we are experiencing 2 main problems.
The first is that at least half of the bookings are coming in as abandoned, even though the money is arriving in our PayPal account. We have identified this is because the customer finishes with PayPal they are not clicking to be directed back to the booking site, but, previously they did not have to click back, or at least were automatically directed back and so we never had these abandoned payments. So we are receiving the money but the client is not getting their final confirmation and they are not being added to our registration list. Logistically this is causing big issues for us already.
The second issue is that some customers are getting an error message when they do click on the link to come back from paypal to the site. Again money taken but marked as abandoned.
The ‘Auto Return’ feature is from PayPal themselves.
If you log into your PayPal account, go to Profile -> Website Payment Preferences.
You should find the Auto Return feature at the top of that page, is it enabled?
If not you will need to input the URL to your ‘Thank You’ page and enable Auto Return. You can find this URL by goign to Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Critical Pages. Next to the ‘Thank You’ dropdown click the ‘View’ link to be taken to the thank you page.
Whilst on your Website Payment Preferences page can you also tell me if Payment Data Transfer (PDT) is enabled?
