A little disappointed, why not offer more?

I wish I would have done more research and testing before choosing event espresso. I feel disappointed that there isn’t support for woocommerce (addon or integration- seeing as though most businesses DON’T use paypal and woocommerce is one of the most commonly used wordpress plugins of all time). I also feel slightly short changed that it seems like ee3 has more useful features and addons than ee4 (staff manager, attendee profiles, wp user integration, multiple events, and roles and permissions – things that would be useful for our school’s website).

So, my question is “Do you ever plan on implementing any of those features in EE4 or is that something that is years away/never going to happen?”

In other threads, you have claimed “We have no plans for integration currently” for woocommerce (which is truly disappointing and most definitely a deal breaker), and of course “click here to hire developer blah blah”, but does anyone at eventespresso plan on any of these things at all or should people just turn elsewhere to find an event system for wordpress? Some of us don’t have thousands of dollars to pay one of your certified custom developers for a customization that will likely break on the next wordpress update.

Hi Erik,

We offer several free options to evaluate Event Espresso including a lite version, a demo site for EE3, and a demo site for EE4.

Unfortunately, there are no immediate plans to integrate with Woocommerce as there are other priorities ahead including making addons for EE3 available for EE4.

You may find this page helpful as it has an overview of the roadmap for Event Espresso 4:

Hi Erik,

I’d like to follow up with you and maybe I can help point you to a possible solution. Can you elaborate on the problem that you’re trying to solve with a WooCommerce integration?

When you mention:

“seeing as though most businesses DON’T use paypal and woocommerce is one of the most commonly used wordpress plugins of all time)”

What’s the problem that you’re looking to solve? Event Espresso offers many other payment methods besides PayPal, and WooCommerce being a popular plugin is great, but how does that help in this case?

We’ve had a few internal and external discussions about possible WooCommerce integration and it would be great to hear what you’d like to see in a possible EE/WC add-on.

I can also follow up with your concerns and question about EE3 add-ons and the future development of Event Espresso 4. You wrote:

I also feel slightly short changed that it seems like ee3 has more useful features and addons than ee4 (staff manager, attendee profiles, wp user integration, multiple events, and roles and permissions – things that would be useful for our school’s website).

I can understand that your disappointed. It may help to know that Event Espresso 3 has been around since 2010 and since then its add-ons have been developed and released over time. Event Espresso 4 was released as beta earlier this year, and its add-ons are under development and are being released when they’re ready. All new add-ons will be developed for Event Espresso 4. So to answer the first part of your question:

“Do you ever plan on implementing any of those features in EE4…?”

The answer is yes. All of those and more. They will take some time, and we’ve already started on a few of these and they’ll be released when they’re ready. We also are offering sponsorship opportunities for some of these, the latest one being WP User Integration.

So in the meantime while Event Espresso 4 has the smaller, simpler feature set, we’re recommending it to everyone who has basic online event registration needs. For everyone else who needs the additional features and functionality, Event Espresso 3 is still being supported. Once Event Espresso 4 reaches feature parity, we’ll begin transitioning all the support options to Event Espresso 4.

I hope that this information helps, and again if you have a moment, I’m interested in hearing what ideas you have that a WooCommerce integration would make happen.
