404 Error related to member-only event

Site visitors who were not logged in get a 404 error when clicking on an event registration link. I ultimately discovered the inactive members add-on, activated it, and changed the event’s members-only status from “yes” to “no” but this hasn’t corrected the 404 error. The event still displays with a “private” prefix for members and non-members get 404 error.

Hi Chandler,

The event still displays with a “private” prefix for members and non-members get 404 error.

This is the problem.

The Event has been set to Private, meaning it is only available for users logged into the site. This is the same behaviour for standard WordPress posts.

If you Edit the event and look at the event options on the top right, do you see something like this – http://take.ms/PonPh

If so click the ‘Edit’ link, set the Event to Public and update the event. Non logged in users should then be able to access the event.

I’m using EE3, so my event options looks a bit different, but it does show event status as public (always has). http://goo.gl/1KJdZu

Ah, apologies, EE4 on the brain 😉

OK so is your /event-registration/ page set to Private?
