Hi,

I just issued a test refund and the email that comes through is showing amount refunded $0.00

Checked EE—> messages and the code there is [TOTAL_AMOUNT_PAID]

Also what does the status of incomplete mean?

Thanks,
Cindra

Hello,

Incomplete is the payment status on the transaction (http://cl.ly/0T2g1q101w1U) as a full refund will cancel out any payments that have been made.

The messaging can be changed in WP-admin –> Event Espresso –> Messages. Then look for the refund message type. If you do not see it, then try increasing the pagination through screen.

I found the refund message but I don’t know what code to put in that will make it not $0.00

Hi Cindra,

What was the amount that you refunded on the test transaction and was this a full refund or a partial refund?

Hi Cindra,

The refund message type uses [AMOUNT_PAID] within that section by default – http://take.ms/YIB4Z

In a previous post it looks like the [AMOUNT_PAID] shortcodes were swapped out for [TOTAL_AMOUNT_PAID] so I’m assuming that was changed in this message type to.

However the refund message type is a payment related message so it should use [AMOUNT_PAID]

The difference between can seem a little confusing, but is important depending on how you want to use them. [AMOUNT_PAID] takes the value paid from an actual payment (a refund is still a payment within EE) and displays that value, if the message doesn’t have a payment (such as registration messages like Registration Approved does not) then it displays 0.00

[TOTAL_AMOUNT_PAID] pulls in the amount paid from the whole transaction (you may have multiple single payments within a transaction) and its this value – http://take.ms/p6uSR

So when I apply a refund to the transaction for a full amount, the transaction total amount paid is 0.00 – http://take.ms/M1lPF

That’s why your getting 0.00 in the email.

Using [AMOUNT_PAID] within the refund email mean it will pull in the amount from the refund payment you just appied, this is what you would see – http://take.ms/AltOA

Does that help?

I am going out of town for the weekend but I will try this when I get a moment. Seems like it should do the trick though. Thanks!
