Hi – EE4’s custom short codes aren’t working again on custom post types (Learndash). It was working well and then I made a change and now it no longer works. Any ideas why it’s not working? This features seems to come and go for some reason.

Also – if I use the shortcode “[ESPRESSO_EVENTS category_slug=”categort_slug”] I get the following error:
No configuration section has been provided while attempting to save “_Config”. EE_Config – _verify_config_params – 367

Hi Ray,

If you edit the page containing that shortcode and just Update it make no changes, does the shortcode then parse correctly?

Yes. But as soon as I make a change it doesn’t work and I can’t get it back to the initial code that works.

Hi,

Are you on the latest version of Event Espresso 4.3.1? Also, could you let us know the change that was made (you mentioned that it was working and stopped).

Hi – yes, I’m on the latest version. I make sure of this before posting anything…..(this seems to be like the “did you restart” question).

This is similar the same problem I had with the descriptions. I made no functional changes other than changing the short code from [ESPRESSO_TICKET_SELECTOR event_id=’xxxx’] to [ESPRESSO_TICKET_SELECTOR category_slug=”category-slug”] and then update and nothing works after that. Even when I tried to put the code back to the [ESPRESSO_TICKET_SELECTOR event_id=’xxxx’] it doesn’t work.

Thanks.

Did you make that change anywhere else?

The following shortcode is supported:

[ESPRESSO_TICKET_SELECTOR event_id=”your_event_id”]

Using it with the category parameter will not work.

Hi – no, I didn’t make any other functional changes to make this not work.

Also, I’m not sure what you mean by category parameters not working but I used [ESPRESSO_TICKET_SELECTOR category_slug=”category-slug”] for the category parameters, per your documentation: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/event-espresso-4-shortcodes/

The ticket selector shortcode is available for a single event:

Thanks but this doesn’t solve the problem because it still doesn’t work. That’s the reason for the original post because even the single event doesn’t work.

Also – if it only gives options for single events, then what about recurring events?

Hi Ray,

If you want to display a list of recurring events or non-recurring events, you’d use the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode.

The ticket selector shortcode will only accept the event_id parameter because it will display one ticket selector for one event.

There’s been some additional development work on the fallback shortcode helper methods which we’ve tested and verified that it fixes issues with placing EE shortcodes outside of the_content() (like in a widget, or in your case a Learndash CPT).

If you’d like to try out the latest fix it’s available as a pre-release download. You can download the Event Espresso 4.4 pre-release from your account page *after* you click the box on your account page to opt in to the pre-release channel.
